Sandeha alankaara (सन्देह)

सन्देह (Sandeha alankara)

Definition:
सम्भावनानिश्चयान्यतरभिन्ना मनोरमा ।
सादृश्यहेतुका बुद्धिस्सन्देहालंकृतिर्मता ॥

when there is confusion and there is beautiful possibility because of similarity, it is known as Sandeha alankara.

There are three types of Sandeha alankara

1.शुद्ध
2.निश्चयगर्भ
3.निश्चयान्त

1.शुद्ध

किंनु तुषारासारः किं घनसारः किममृतसारो वा ।
शमयति यदिदं क्लममिति समशायि जनैर्हरेर्दृशो विषयैः ॥

here there is no conclusion at the end or in the middle. It is pure Sandeha alankara.

1(a)विषयिणां संदिह्यमानत्वे

Here there is Sandeha of not only the vishayin - nakharuchivalaya etc but also of the vishaya - chakra.

हरितो ध्यैष्ट गिरिः किं गिरितो वा हरिरिदं महौन्नत्यम्‌ ।
सर्वोन्नतावुभवपि दर्वीकरशैलतदधिपौ भवतः ॥

2. निश्चयगर्भः
In this kind of Sandeha, the starting is by confusion, in the middle there is some certainty, and at the end there is again confusion.

example:
किमियं गङ्गा न हरेर्मुखे भवेत्साsथवा किमु ज्योत्स्ना ।
साsपि तथैवेति जनाश्श्रीपतिहसितं विलोक्य संदिहते ॥

3. निश्चयान्तः
In this kind of sandeha, the confusion is ultimately cleared off by the certainty.
Therefore it is known as Nishchayaanta

no sandeha

भगवन्नहिनगवसते जगदीशत्वे तवापि ये संदिहते ।
सत्त्वे तेषामेषां सत्त्वैकधना जनाः परं सन्दिहते ॥
Here there is no confusion because of similarity. Therefore it is not an example of Sandeha alankara even though it is somewhat beautiful.

सर्वस्वकार thinks that this is an example of आरोपमूलः संदेहालंकारः

विमर्शिनीकार classifies the Sandeha alankara in three types:
स्वरूपहेतुफलानां त्रिधा

1.स्वरूपसंदेहः

किं मरकतरुचिपूरैरपूरि किमलेपि हरिमणिमहोभिः ।
फणिशिखरिमन्दिरान्तरमिति संशयदं हरेर्जयति तेजः ॥
Here the confusion is about the form of the thing or person.

2.हेतुसन्देहः

स्मयसे यदिदं स्वामिन्‌ किं तन्मच्चरितचिन्तनादथवा ।
ईदृक्षरक्ष्यलाभात्किं वा मम दुर्लभेप्सितोद्योगात्‌ ॥
Here the confusion is about the cause.

3.फलसन्देहः

सुखदमिदमेव पदमिति सूचयितुं किंन्विदं हि परमपदम्‌ ।
इति कथयितुं नु पन्नगपतिगिरिपतिना करोsवनमितोsयम्‌ ॥
Here the confusion is about the ultimate outcome.

Another classification of
Sandeha alankara

A. अनुगामी धर्मः

सिंहल सद्गोत्र आकर भवन - महानील (गोत्र - भूः, the one who is extracted out of the good mines of Ceylone

सिंह लसत्‌ गोत्र आकर भवन - भगवान्‌ ( गोत्र - पर्वतः. the one who resides in the mountain which is shining bright as lion)

H.परम्परित

श्रुतिवनमदावलो वा लक्ष्मीवर्षाशिखावलो वा यम्‌।
दर्वीकरगिरिमणिमिति निर्वर्णयता जनेन संदिदिहे ॥

I.लक्ष्यः

Bhraantimaan / Bhrantimat / Bhrantiman alankaara (भ्रान्तिमत्‌ / भ्रान्तिमान्‌ अलङ्कार)

भ्रान्तिमत्‌ / भ्रान्तिमान्‌ अलङ्कार

Definition:
चमत्कृतिमती भ्रान्तिर्यस्मिंत्सादृश्यहेतुका ।
अनूदिता स्यात्सन्दर्भे तमाहुर्भ्रान्तिमानिति ॥
When the poet creates brilliant confustion because of similarity, it is known as Bhraantimaan alankara.

Definition 2:
प्रमात्रन्तरधीर्भ्रान्तिरूपा यर्मिन्ननूद्यते ।
स भ्रान्तिमानिति ख्यातो लंकारेsत्वौपचारिकः ||

Examples:
जलविहृतौ प्रतिवीचि प्रतिबिम्बान्यब्धिजादृशोर्वीक्ष्य ।
पृथुशफरभ्रमसकलाश्शकुला दूरं द्रवन्ति भयविकलाः ॥
The fishes ran away from the image of the Lotus, thinking that it was some giant fish.

कमलाकपोलफलके कलितः कनकाचलेश्वरकटाक्षः ।
दृग्दोषधूतिदत्ताञ्जनबिन्दुभ्रान्तिदश्श्रियं दत्ताम्‌ ॥
Here there is confustion between the smear and the eyes of Vishnu.

नानेह नास्ति किंचन जाने सर्वान्तरात्मभूतं त्वाम्‌ ।
भ्राम्यति यो स्मिन्नर्थे भ्राम्यति स भवे चिरादहिगिरीन्दो ॥
Not bhrantiman, because here the confusion is not caused by similarity nor has it been specifically created by the poet. The confusion should not be natural.

Here there is confusion between the Crown and Parrot, as well as Dadim fruit (pomegranate fruit)

4. परस्परविषयभ्रान्ति

बिभ्यति वीक्ष्य मयूरान्‌ कादम्बा नूतनाम्बुदभ्रान्त्या ।
तेsपि निरीक्ष्य मरालान्‌ शारदनीरदधिया वृषाद्रिवने ॥
Peacocks are excited by seeing black ducks thinking them to be clouds. Similarly,
The Ducks are also excited by seeing the Peacock thinking them to be clouds

Smriti alankara (Smruti alankara) (स्मृति अलङ्कार)

Definition
या सादृश्यपरि्ज्ञानोद्बुद्धसंस्कारस्मृतिः ।
प्रयोज्या सा स्मृतिर्नामालंकृतिः कथयते बुधैः ॥
When something reminds of another thing because of similarity, it is known as Smriti.

Definition 2:
सदृशानुभवाद्वस्त्वन्तरस्मृतिः स्मरणम्‌ ।
If antother thing is remembered because of feeling of similarity, it is known as Smriti.

Examples:
सुरुचिरमौक्तिकमणिसरविसृमरमसृणतरशुचिरुचिनिमग्ने ।
कमलेक्षणहृदि कौस्तुभकमले दुग्धाब्धिनिवसतिं स्मरतः ॥
Here, both Kaustubha and Lakshmi remembered their residence in the Dugdhasaagara, looking to the heart of the Lord Vishnu.

अभयं दातुं सरभसमिभवरशिरसि स्वहस्तमाधातुः ।
चेतः फणिगिरिनेतुर्यातं कमलाकुचद्वयं स्फीतम्‌ ॥
When the Lord lay his hands on the Elephant for giving him surety of security, his mind wandered to the breast of the Goddess.

लक्ष्मीकटाक्षलहरीं वीक्ष्य शरत्फुल्लमल्लिका रात्रीः ।
तास्स्मरति फणिगिरीन्दू रासविलासं च तासु गोपीनाम्‌ ॥
(dubious whether to count as smruti alankara or not)
Here, the Night remembers the Raasa. But it is the LakshmikaTakshalaharI which corresponds to Yamuna, which makes the night remember Raasa. There is no similarity between LakshmikaTAkshalaharI and Raasa. It reminds the place of Raasa. Therefore it is dubious whether it should be counted as Smriti.

अधिभुजगराजशैलं यं धननीलं विलोलवनमालम्‌ ।
निरवर्णयमतिवेलं तमेव देवं स्मरामि शुभलीलम्‌ ॥
Here the remembrance is because of fear, not because of some common feature. Therefore it is not an example of smriti alankara.

कलिरिपुगुरुवरकरुणासुरतटिनीधूतमोहमालिन्यः ।
शेषाद्रिपतेर्नित्यं शेषित्वं शेषतां च मेsस्मार्षम्‌ ॥
Here also the remembrance is because of 'स्वोज्जीवनेच्छा यदि ते स्वसत्तायां यदि स्पृहा । आत्मदास्यं हरेस्स्वाम्यं स्वभावं च सदा स्मर ॥' and not because of some common quality. Therefore, it is not an example of smriti alankara.

गम्भीरिमा शिशिरिमा गरिमा परमाद्भुतो मधुरिमा च ।
तत्तादृगहिवरगिरेरुत्तंसादन्यतः क्व वा दृष्टः ॥

A. अनुपात्तस्समानोsनुगामी धर्मः

भ्रमर चिरं जीव त्वं स्मारयता त्वदवलम्बमम्बुरुहम्‌ ।
येन त्वया तदुपमे विलोचने स्मारिते वृषगिरीन्दोः ॥

Here, the hornet reminds of lotus and lotus reminds of the eyes of the Lord. Therefore it is debatable whether it can be considered smriti, but the author of this book is affirmative about it.

B. बिम्बप्रतिबिम्बभाव

शारदानीरदनिबिडितवृषगिरिशिखरावलोकनेन हरिः ।
शुचिकञ्चुकमस्मार्षीत्पद्मावत्याः पयोधरद्वंद्वम्‌ ॥

C. उपचरित

मधुरतरं तव चरितं मधुमथनाहं यदा निशमयामि ।
अध्येमि तदा चेतोमध्ये मधुविधुसुधामधुरसानाम्‌ ॥
O Lord, when I think about your sweeter personality, I am reminded of honey, moon, nectar and wine.

निबिरीससौकुमार्यं शिरीषकुसुमं निरीक्षमाणस्य ।
स्मृतिसृतिमधिरोहति मम सरीसृपगिरीशसहचरीहृदयम्‌ ॥

When I see the Goddess Lakshmi's heart, I am reminded of Shirish flower.

श्लेषात्मक

विनिशाम्यते यदा तव विभासिनीहारभारमाश्लिष्टा ।
हृदयस्थली तदाsच्युतहृदयं मे विशति हैमनसमृद्धिः ॥

उद्यानवनी हृद्या हृद्यारुढा तदा न कस्य भवेत्‌ ॥

मृद्वीकामितफलदा - मृद्वीका अमितफलदा (the grapevine giving sweet fruits - for the Garden) / मृद्वी कामितफलदा (tender and giving desired fruits - for Goddess Lakshmi)

कनकाचलेश्वरकरे कनन्तमब्जं सुधांशुरिति चक्रम्‌ ।
दिनमणिरिति च विदित्वाsहर्षि चकोरैश्च चक्रवाकैश्च ॥
the Chakora and Chakravaaka got happy

वारिनिधेर्वात्सल्यं वारिजविपिनस्य विभवपौष्कल्यम्‌ ।

parinama alankara (परिणाम अलङ्कार)

Definition:

विषयी स्वात्मना यत्र प्रकृतानुपयोगतः ।

विषयात्मत्वमभ्येति परिणामस्स ईरितः ॥
When the vishayin is by nature incapable of doing something, for which it has to be the same as vishaya, it it known as Parinama.

Classifications of Parinama

अयं च परिणामो द्विविधस्सामानाधिकरण्यवैयधिकरणाभ्याम्‌। सामानाधिकरणेsपि समासगो वाक्यगश्चेति द्विविधः|
The Parinama alankara is of two types (1) Samanadhikarana (2)vyadhikarana.
the SamanadhikaraNa is also of two types (A) samaasaga and (B) vaakyaga.

1(A).सामानाधिकरणे समासगः

द्विरदाधिपवरदानस्फुरदादरणस्य फणिगिरिनियन्तुः ।
सुरदानवनुतकीर्तेर्वरदायि कराब्जमवतु सुकुमारम्‌ ॥
Here, the lotus is by itself not capable of giving alms etc in natural course. Therefore it has become similar to the hand of Almighty Lord to fulfil this. Therefore it is Parinaama. कराब्ज is a samaasa. Therefore it is an example of सामानाधिकरणे समासगः.

तावकशुभगुणसौरभविसरैरधिवासितं सतां स्वान्तम्‌ ।
दुर्दान्तदैवतान्तरदुर्गन्धं दूरतो जहाति हरे ॥
Fragrance cannot by itself entitle it to be in vicinity of Good people. Therefore, it has compared itself to the good qualities of the lord to entitle it to remain in vicinity of the good people.

Here the wealth is not capable of being distributed to the devotees, therefore, it has been combined with bhakti so as to render it capable of being distributed. The poet has made it clear beforehand that he is not even inclined in the wealth of the Brahma. Therefore the need to combine it with Bhakti.

Another classification of Parinama alankara

1.आरोप्यमाणपरिणामः

वदनेन्दुना तन्वी शिशिरीकुरुते दृशौ ।
Here, face itself cannot cool eyes, therefore it is necessary to be combined with moon. Therefore it is known as आरोप्यमाणपरिणामः. (i.e. the विषय is incapable of doing something by itself and it has to rely on the आरोप्यमाण)

2. विषयपरिणामः

वदनेन्दुना तन्वी स्मरतापं विलुम्पति ।
Here, the moon itself cannot remove the pain of lust and has to rely on face. Therefore the आरोप्यमाण is incapable of doing it by itself and therefore it has to rely on the विषय. Thus it is an example of विषयपरिणामः.

परिणामध्वनि

A. अर्थशक्तिमूलपरिणामध्वनि

कल्पमहीरुह कल्पय निरतिशयां संपदं नितान्तं नः ।
यां सन्तोsनुभवन्तो जन्मजरादिव्यथां न धावन्ति ॥
Here there is combination of kalpataru and Lord.

B. शब्दशक्तिमूलो

कंजायताक्षि मुग्धे संज्वरमनुविंदसे सखि किमर्थम्‌ ।
आशास्व घनं कृष्णं येन त्वं शान्तिमेष्यसि क्षिप्रम्‌ ॥
This is an exclamation of a friend to a Gopi.

संज्वर removal - krishna is himself incapable of removing fever therefore it is dependent of Ghana (cloud)

whereas if it refers to the fever of sensuality, cloud can not remove it, it has to rely on Krishna.
Therefore it is an example of शब्दशक्तिमूलो

rupaka alankaara ( रुपक अलङ्कार )

Definition of रूपक:

यत्स्याद्विषयिरुपेण विषयस्योपरञ्जनम्|
रुपकं तद्विधाभेदताद्रुप्यावसितं विदु:||

If there is विषयि (उपमान) does उपरञ्जन of विषय (उपमेय), it is known as रूपक.
रूपक is of two types: ताद्रूप्यरूपकम्‌ and अभेदरूपकम्‌.

Their definition is as follows

आरोपे सत्यभेदस्याभेदरुपकमुच्यते।
ताद्रूप्यरुपकं तत्स्यात्ताद्रूप्यस्य स चेद्भवेत्‌॥

When there is आरोप (accusation) of ताद्रूप्य, it is known as ताद्रूप्यरूपकम्‌.
when there is आरोप (accusation) of अभेद, it is known as अभेदरूपकम्‌.

मुखं चन्द्रः (face is moon)- अभेदरूपकम् (There is no difference between मुख and चन्द्र) ‌

मुखमपरः चन्द्रः (the face is another moon) - ताद्रूप्यरुपकम्‌ (There is difference between मुख and चन्द्र. Face is called another moon)

तद्द्वयं च त्रिधाssधिक्यन्यूनत्वानुभयोक्तिभिः।
These two types of Rupaka are again divided in three types: आधिक्य, न्यूनत्व, अनुभय (absence of both) . Thus, in toto there are six types of Rupaka.

1. अधिकाभेदरूपकम्
definition:
पूर्वावस्थात आरोप्यमाणस्याधिक्यवर्णनम्।
वर्ण्यायां चेदवस्थायामधिकाभेदरुपकम्॥
When there is improvement in the description of the described as compared to the previous condition, it is known as अधिकाभेदरूपकम्.
example:
असुरासुरविक्षुभितादहिराजधरेशजलनिधेरुदितम्।
वितरत्यजरामरताममितां स्मितममृतमेतदनुसरताम्॥
Here there is अभेद of अहिराजधरेश and जलनिधि, and स्मित and अमृत. But the ocean's description is improved by the addition of the adjective असुरासुरविक्षुभित, same way the nectar's description is improved by the adjective वितरत्यजरामरताममितां. Therefore this is an example of अधिकाभेदरूपकम्.
The first stanza is an example of समस्त अधिकाभेदरूपकम्
The second stanza is an example of व्यस्त अधिकाभेदरूपकम्

2. न्यूनाभेदरूपकम्
Definition:
न्यूनता प्रागवस्थातश्चेन्न्यूनाभेदरूपकम्।
When there is diminition in the description from the previous condition, it is known as न्यूनाभेदरूपकम्.
Example
अनुपदमनुपमफणिपतिगिरिमणिगुणगरिममसृणिता कविता।
त्रय्येव पौरूषेयी धुनोति दुरितं तनोति सुखममितम्॥
Here there is Rupaka between कविता and त्रयी. The त्रयी is originally अपौरूषेय, but to compare it with the कविता, it has been downgraded to पौरूषेय. Therefore, this is an example of न्यूनाभेदरूपकम्.

3.अनुभयाभेदरूपकम्‌
Definition
आधिक्यन्यूनताभावेsनुभयाभेदरूपकम्‌॥

When there is no increment or decrease in the description as compared to the previous condition, it is known as अनुभयाभेदरूपकम्‌.

example:
षट्पदमन्त्रोद्गीतं सकमलरेखं रसोदयनिकेतम्‌।
कलयामि श्रीशरणं नलिनं साक्षाद्रमापतेश्चरणम्‌॥

षट्पद - a specific type of vedic metre / a bumble bee
रसा - earth (the earth is supposed to have been created by Lord's feet)
रस - nectar (the reservoir of nectar for lotus
श्री - the birthplace of Lakshmi / the reservoir of the beauty.

In this shloka, the feet of the Lord has been compared with the lotus. Here there is no उत्कर्ष or अपकर्ष as compared to the previous state. Therefore it is अनुभयाभेदरूपकम्‌.

ताद्रूप्यरूपकेsप्येवं त्रैविध्यं सद्भिरूह्यताम्‌॥
Taadrupya rupaka is also of the same three types

4.अधिकताद्रूप्यरूपकम्‌

Example

परमन्दरसंक्षोभं न भजति जात्वपि भुजङ्गगिरिनेतुः।

स्वान्तसरित्कान्तो स्मिन्‌ जयति समुद्रो बुधान्न रञ्जयति॥

परमं दरेण (because of great fear) or परं मन्दरेण (by excessive churning by Mandara mountain)

परमन्दरसंक्षोभं न भजति इति - The ocean doesn't fear nor gets agitated by the churning by Mandara. Therefore it is explicitly showing the increment in the quality of the ocean. Therefore, it is an example of अधिकताद्रूप्यरूपकम्‌.

Example 2:

गर्जन्विषं प्रदत्ते पर्जन्यश्शीतको मलिनवक्त्रः।

फणिगिरिपतिपर्जन्यः प्रददात्यमृतमपि सुखसुखेनैव॥

पर्जन्य: - rain

शीतक - अलसः (makes lazy) or शीतं करोति (cools the atmosphere) or शीतं कं (gives cool water)

मलिनवक्त्रः - which has नीलं मुखं (whose anterior part is naturally of dark colour) (for Lord Shiv - the neck is blue)

विषं - गरलं जलं च प्रदत्ते (gives water) (for Shiva - the poison in the neck)

Thus the description shows the superiority of फणिगिरिपतिपर्जन्य over प्रसिद्धपर्जन्य. Therefore it is an example of अधिकताद्रूप्यरूपकम्‌.

5. न्यूनताद्रूप्यरूपकं

प्रणमन्ति ये भजन्ति च फणिगिरिकान्तं स्तुवन्ति चाञ्चन्ति ।

तेsमी भगवद्भक्ता भुमीजनुषोsपरे मुक्ताः ॥

Here by the words अपरे मुक्ताः the भगवद्भक्ताः are given a lower status than the प्रसिद्धमुक्ताः because of their birth in this mundane world. Therefore it is an example of न्यूनताद्रूप्यरूपकं.

6. अनुभयताद्रूप्यरूपकं

विबुधेभ्योsमृतवितरणनिपुणमिदं हरिणकिरणजनिशरणम्‌।

फणिधरणिधरशिरोमणिहृदयं जानीमहेsपरं जलधिम्‌॥

विबुध - gods or the learned men

अमृतवितरण - apportioning the Amrit after churning the ocean / spreading the knowledge

हरिणकिरण - the moon

जनिशरण - birthplace.

It refers to the mythological belief that the moon is born from the ocean, otherwise it is also believed that the moon is born from the mind.

अपरं जलधिं - There is no value judgement whether the ocean of the heart of the Lord is better or worse than the original ocean. Therefore it is an example of अनुभयताद्रूप्यरूपकं

AbhedarUpaka is of two types

अभेदरूपकं - संसर्गत्वे पदार्थत्वे.

Example:

चिन्तामणिरसि भजतां सन्तानो वा तरुस्त्वमब्जाक्ष।

हरिनीलाद्वैतं तव तनुरेत्यथवा तमालतादात्म्यम्‌ ॥

Here चिन्तामणि and सन्तानतरु show संसर्गरूपः अभेदः

whereas तनुः हरिनीलाद्वैतम्‌ तमालतादात्म्यम्‌ show पदार्थरूपः अभेदः

The अभेदरुपकं and तादात्म्यरूपकं can have उपपाद्य - उपपादकभाव. i.e. one can cause the other to exist.

example:

1.हारास्तवाम्बुधाराः कनकपटीयं तटित्प्रभारभटी ।

अम्बुरुहेक्षण तत्त्वय्यम्बुदतां नियतमेव जानीमः ॥

2.मन्दस्मिते सुधात्वं मन्दारत्वं तवाच्युत कटाक्षे ।

फाले बालेन्दुत्वं भाति तदम्भोनिधेरभिन्नस्त्वम्‌ ॥

Here in the first shloka, अभेदरूपक is उपपादक (that which causes) and तादात्म्यरूपक is उपपाद्यः (that which is caused) Whereas in the second shloka, the situation is reversed.

again in the first shloka, the उपपादक is अभेद संसर्गरूपः; whereas in the second shloka उपपाद्य is पदार्थरूप अभेदः

There are total of eight types of Rupaka according to the eastern grammarians
1. samastavastuvishayam saangam
2. ekadeshavivarti saangam
3. kevalam niravayavam
4. maalaarupam niravayam
5. kevalam shlishtaparamparitam
6. maalaarupam shlishtaparamparitam
7. kevalam ashlishtaparamparitam
8. maalaarupam ashlishtaparamparitam
प्राचां मते विभागोपि रूपकस्य निरूप्यते।

त्रिधा साङ्गं निरङ्गं च परम्परितमित्यदः ॥

समस्तवस्तुविषयमेकदेशविवर्ति च।

इति सावयवं चापि द्विविधं तत्र रूपकम्‌॥

We will also discuss the classification of Rupaka according to the Eastern / former Grammarians. It is of three types साङ्गम्‌, निरङ्गम्‌ and परम्परितम्‌
The साङ्गम्‌ is of two further types समस्तवस्तुविषयम्‌ and एकदेशविवर्ति.

1.सावयवं

यत्परस्परसापेक्षनिष्पत्तीनां निबध्यते ।
रूपकाणां तु संघातो भवेत्सावयवं हि तत्‌ ॥

1(A).समस्तवस्तुविषयम्‌ सावयवं
निरूपणेsवयविनोsवयवानां च शब्दतः ।
समस्तवस्तुविषयं भवेत्सावयवं हि तत्‌ ॥

Example:
हरिहृदयपञ्जरे नवमुक्तामणिहारजालके नद्धम्‌।
श्रीवत्सकीरहेतोर्दाडिमफलमेव कौस्तुभमणीन्द्रः ॥

Here the main Rupaka is between Dadimaphalam and kaustubhamanIndra. All other rupakas are supporting it. Therefore all other Rupakas are supporting one Rupaka. This is an example of समस्तवस्तुविषयम्‌ सावयवं.

Example 2:
सिंहधराधरशेखरसिंहलसंभूतमसितविद्योतम्‌ ।
श्रीरुचिकनकोपचितं शौरिमहानीलमाद्रिये हृदये ॥

1(B. एकदेशविवर्ति सावयवं

आरोप्यमाणं शाब्दं चेत्क्वचिदार्थं च कुत्रचित्‌ ।
एकदेशविवर्त्याख्यमिदं सावयवं विदुः ॥
Where there is mention of the Rupaka by words explicitly somewhere and by meaning implicitly somewhere, it is known as एकदेशविवर्ति सावयवं.

Example:
भवजलनिधिमतिविपुलं विविधमहावासनानदीशबलम्‌ ।
लोकोsयं तरतितरां काकोदरगिरिपतेरुपास्य कृपाम्‌ ॥
Here all other Rupakas are explicit. These explicit Rupakas lead to the implicit Rupaka comparing the कृपाम्‌ with नौ (boat). Therefore it is an example of एकदेशविवर्ति सावयवं.

सावयवं can also have श्लिष्टं

1(A)(1)समस्तवस्तुवृत्ति सावयवं श्लिष्टं

In Niravayava Rupaka, there is only description of the angin /avayavin, and not of the avayava.
Niravayava rupaka is of two types: Kevalam and maalaarupam

2(A) केवलं निरवयवं

वातंधयगिरिजातं स्फीतं धनमखिलशरणमवदातम्‌।

ख्यातं धनपतिगीतं ध्यातं धवलयति हृत्सरोजातम्‌ ॥

Here हृत्सरोजातम्‌ is a Rupaka, which is not supported by a bunch of other Rupaka. Therefore it is an example of केवलं निरवयवं.

2(B) निरवयवं मालारूपकं

सौन्दर्यबृन्दकन्दं मुचुकुन्दानन्दचन्दनं वन्दे ।

वन्दारूकबृन्दारकमन्दारं दन्दशूकशिखरीन्दुम्‌ ॥

Here, दन्दशूकशिखरीन्दुम्‌ has many padaartha to support it. Therefore it it an example of niravayava maalaarupakam

2(B)(1)अश्लिष्टानेकविषयकानेकारोपो

नयने नलिने वदनं सदनं लक्ष्म्यास्तव स्मितं त्वमृतम्‌ ।

गण्डौ दर्पणखण्डौ कुण्डलिवेतण्डशिखरिर्मातण्ड ॥
There is no Shlesh. Therefore it is an example of अश्लिष्टानेकविषयकानेकारोपो.

Here, thre is Shlesh. Therefore it is an example of श्लेषनिबन्धनानेकारोपो.

अक्षि तव पुण्डरीकं कुमुदं स्मितमञ्जनं प्रभाविसरम्‌ ।
चरितं तु सार्वभौमं जानंस्त्वां वेद्मि दिग्गजात्मानम्‌ ॥

Here in the first stanza, there is maalaaniravayava alankaara for the feet of the Lord. Whereas in the second stanza there is maalaaniravayava alankaara for the idol of the Lord.

3. परंपरितम्‌
Definition:
एकं विषयि यद्यन्यविषय्यन्वितमुच्यते ।
कार्यकारणभावेन स्यात्परंपरितं तदा ॥
When one upamaana (aaropya) is also meant to be aaropya for another because of common feature, it is known as Paramparitam

Example:

Here, jaladhi - taraNi rupaka signifies taraNi - karuNa rupaka. Therefore, the meaning of one rupaka is dependent on one other rupaka. This is known as paramparita.

सुविपुलशुभगुणजलनिधिफणगिरिराजपतिकृपागङ्गाम्‌ ।
अवगाह्य नराश्शिशिरां न विगाहन्ते कदा पि तापकथाम्‌ ॥

श्लिष्टाश्लिष्टविभेदेन तत्परंपरितं द्विधा ।

केवलं मालिका चेति तद्द्वयं द्विविधं भवेत्‌ ॥

एवमष्टाविधं प्राचां मते रूपकमिष्यते ॥

Paramparitam is of two types - Shlishta and Ashlishta and these two types are further classified as - Kevalam and Maalaarupam. Thus there are four types of Paramparitam. And in toto there are eight types of Rupaka according to the earlier / eastern Grammarians.

1.केवलं श्लिष्टपरंपरितम्‌
e.g.

अवनाय च भुवनानां भवनमकार्षिश्श्रताब्जभुवन हरे ॥

भगवति सलिलत्वारोपः
श्रितेषु अब्जत्वारोपः
Therefore it is paramparitam, and it is not maalaarupam and nor is it Shlishta. Therefore it is an example of शुद्धपरंपरितं केवलम्‌.

4(A).मालारूपं परंपरितम्‌ (आनुकूल्ये)

भूकेकिनीपयोदं राकेन्दुं तं रमाकुवलयिन्याः ।

Here घनसार is बिम्ब.
My effort to add something to the personality of the One who is praised so greatly by the Shruti is just effort of adding fragrance to the already fragrant camphor.

रुपके बिम्बप्रतिबिम्बभावासंभवान्नेदं रूपकमिति वदतां वचनं त्वनादर्तव्यम्‌
(some people believe that it is not possible to have Bimbapratibimbabhaava in Rupaka. but according to the writer of this book , that view is not to be entertained at all)

Here the first meanings are attributed to the Lord Vishnu whereas the second meanings are attributed to the Diggaja Supratika.

B. अर्थशक्तिमूलो

भगवन्भवत्प्रतापो हरितः परितः प्रकाशयति सततम्‌ ।

विदलयति कमलवलयं शोकं लुम्पति च कोकलोकानाम्‌ ॥
