upamaa alankaara - part XIX (types of धर्मोपमानलुप्ता)

धर्मोपमानलुप्ता तु वाक्ये वृत्तौ च तद्धिते|
(There are three types of Dharmopamanalupta namely vakya, samasa and taddhita) they are described below.

वाक्ये धर्मोपमानलुप्ता
येन समान: कश्चन मानवलोके क्वाsपि न लुलोके|
तेन मयाsपि दयाब्दे श्रीनिलय प्रार्थ्यसेsपवर्गमहो||
Here there is no match. And there is no mention of common धर्म. Therefore it is धर्मोपमानलुप्ता.

समासे धर्मोपमानलुप्ता
क्वापि सुदर्शनसदृशो नादर्शि न दृश्यते न च द्रष्टा|
येन परा वनमाली मालिशिरस्तत्सुमालिवदलावीत्||
Here सुदर्शनसदृशो describes the samaasa and there is no match of सुदर्शन. There is no mention of धर्म. Therefore it is an example of समासे धर्मोपमानलुप्ता



तद्धिते धर्मोपमानलुप्ता
मुचुकुन्दस्य गुहायां यदिह मुकुन्देन मेलनं यदपि|
वरलाभोsस्यामुष्मान्मन्येsन्धकवर्तकीयमेदतदिति||
अन्धकवर्तकीयम् is the example of तद्धिते धर्मोपमानलुप्ता because there is no mention of Common धर्म and no उपमान. This may be example of धर्मोपमानवाचकलुप्ता also as there is no वाचक mentioned.

upamaa alankaara - part XII (types of आर्थी upamaa)

शशधरबिम्बेन समो विशदतया कुन्दबृन्दसङ्काश: |
धवलसरोरुहवदयं प्रविलसति करोदरे हरेश्शङ्ख: ||

this verse encompasses three types of आर्थी upamaa namely
वाक्यगा (शशधरबिम्बेन समो)
समासगा (कुन्दबृन्दसङ्काश:)
तद्धितस्था (धवलसरोरुहवत्).

upamaa alankaara - part XI (types of श्रौती upamaa)

गगनं यथा फणीश्वरनगपतिहृदयं विनीलमुज्ज्वलति |
तारावलिरिव हारावलिरार्द्रावच्च कौस्तुभे शोभा (कौस्तुभस्य श्री:)||

here there are three kinds of upamaa alankaara which are types of shrauti upamaa ( श्रौती
upamaa alankaara) within a single verse namely
1. वाक्यगा ( गगनं यथा फणीश्वरनगपतिहृदयं विनीलमुज्ज्वलति)
2. समासगा (तारावलिरिव हारावलि:)
3. तद्धितस्था (आर्द्रावच्च कौस्तुभे शोभा)

here "yathaa", "iva" and "vat" show that these are श्रौती upamaa.

upamaa part IX (ancient classification of upamaa)

प्राचां मते विभगो'स्या उपमाया: प्रपञ्च्यते|
पूर्णा लुप्तेति भेदेन् द्विविधा सा तयो: पुन:||
श्रौत्यार्थीति द्विधा पूर्णा वाक्यगा च समासगा|
तद्धितस्थेति च त्रेधा ते द्वे स्यातां पृथक्पृथक् ||


There are two types of upamaa alankaara namely पूर्णोपमा and लुप्तोपमा.
श्रौती and आर्थी are two major types of पूर्णोपमा upamaa alankaara.
both of them can be one of the following types, वाक्यगा, समासगा or तद्धितस्था.
thus there are total six types of upamaa.
