भ्रान्तिमत् / भ्रान्तिमान् अलङ्कार
Definition:
चमत्कृतिमती भ्रान्तिर्यस्मिंत्सादृश्यहेतुका ।
अनूदिता स्यात्सन्दर्भे तमाहुर्भ्रान्तिमानिति ॥
When the poet creates brilliant confustion because of similarity, it is known as Bhraantimaan alankara.
Definition 2:
प्रमात्रन्तरधीर्भ्रान्तिरूपा यर्मिन्ननूद्यते ।
स भ्रान्तिमानिति ख्यातो लंकारेsत्वौपचारिकः ||
Examples:
जलविहृतौ प्रतिवीचि प्रतिबिम्बान्यब्धिजादृशोर्वीक्ष्य ।
पृथुशफरभ्रमसकलाश्शकुला दूरं द्रवन्ति भयविकलाः ॥
The fishes ran away from the image of the Lotus, thinking that it was some giant fish.
कमलाकपोलफलके कलितः कनकाचलेश्वरकटाक्षः ।
दृग्दोषधूतिदत्ताञ्जनबिन्दुभ्रान्तिदश्श्रियं दत्ताम् ॥
Here there is confustion between the smear and the eyes of Vishnu.
नानेह नास्ति किंचन जाने सर्वान्तरात्मभूतं त्वाम् ।
भ्राम्यति यो स्मिन्नर्थे भ्राम्यति स भवे चिरादहिगिरीन्दो ॥
Not bhrantiman, because here the confusion is not caused by similarity nor has it been specifically created by the poet. The confusion should not be natural.
1.अनुगामी धर्मो
उपगूहितुमुपसर्पति चपलतया श्रीस्सरीसृपगिरीन्दौ ।
द्युमणिरिति कौस्तुभमणिं घृणिमन्तं संवृणोति पाणिभ्याम् ॥
2.बिम्बप्रतिबिम्बभावापन्नो
रोमालिशिखरलग्ने कौस्तुभरत्ने सनालनलिनधिया ।
झगिति लगन्ति भ्रमराः कमलाकर्णावतंसकह्लारात् ॥
3.भ्रान्तेरुत्तरोत्तरं पल्लवेन चमत्कारः
मरकतशिखामणिं शुकमथ मकुटं शोणमणिमयं शौरेः ।
तन्निष्कुलाकृतं श्रीर्दाडिममवयन्ति तव विलासशुकाः ॥
Here there is confusion between the Crown and Parrot, as well as Dadim fruit (pomegranate fruit)
4. परस्परविषयभ्रान्ति
बिभ्यति वीक्ष्य मयूरान् कादम्बा नूतनाम्बुदभ्रान्त्या ।
तेsपि निरीक्ष्य मरालान् शारदनीरदधिया वृषाद्रिवने ॥
Peacocks are excited by seeing black ducks thinking them to be clouds. Similarly,
The Ducks are also excited by seeing the Peacock thinking them to be clouds
