Smriti alankara (Smruti alankara) (स्मृति अलङ्कार)

Definition
When something reminds of another thing because of similarity, it is known as Smriti.

Definition 2:
If antother thing is remembered because of feeling of similarity, it is known as Smriti.

Examples:

Here, both Kaustubha and Lakshmi remembered their residence in the Dugdhasaagara, looking to the heart of the Lord Vishnu.

(dubious whether to count as smruti alankara or not)
Here, the Night remembers the Raasa. But it is the LakshmikaTakshalaharI which corresponds to Yamuna, which makes the night remember Raasa. There is no similarity between LakshmikaTAkshalaharI and Raasa. It reminds the place of Raasa. Therefore it is dubious whether it should be counted as Smriti.

Here the remembrance is because of fear, not because of some common feature. Therefore it is not an example of smriti alankara.

Here also the remembrance is because of 'स्वोज्जीवनेच्छा यदि ते स्वसत्तायां यदि स्पृहा । and not because of some common quality. Therefore, it is not an example of smriti alankara.
